My Favorite Supplements & Holistic Health Practices

Posted by Kyndle Moore on

Over the years of working with pregnant and postpartum moms, I’ve learned that the little things we do daily those small, intentional habits make a big difference in how we feel. While nutrition, movement, and rest are always at the core of my coaching, I also love incorporating certain supplements and holistic wellness practices to help fill in the gaps, support recovery, and promote overall well-being.

Here are a few of my favorites (and yes, I use these myself!)

1. Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is such a simple but powerful practice. It involves gently brushing your skin in long, upward strokes with a natural bristle brush. Here’s why I love it:

  • Supports healthy lymphatic drainage, helping your body remove waste and toxins naturally

  • Exfoliates the skin, leaving it smooth and glowing

  • Increases circulation, which can help with energy levels

  • Encourages mindful self-care (and let’s be honest—sometimes as a mom, we need those grounding moments!)

I like to do this before showering, and I always follow with a nourishing body oil or lotion.

2. Castor Oil Packs

This is one of my favorite restorative rituals, especially when I need to slow down and give my body some love. Castor oil packs involve soaking a cloth in castor oil, placing it over a specific area of the body (like the abdomen or pelvis), and covering with a heat source.

Benefits of Castor Oil Packs:

  • Creates a calming, soothing sensation and promotes feelings of peace and inner balance

  • Supports relaxation while bringing gentle, focused attention to the area

  • Energizes the area and encourages natural energetic flow

  • May help you wake up feeling rested and refreshed

  • Supports skin hydration and firmness

  • Can be connected with balancing and supporting your chakras root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye

  • Helps release negative energy and tension stored in the body

This is not only a self-care practice but also a beautiful way to tune into your body’s needs.

** do not use castor oil packs if pregnant/ breast feeding!

3. Needed Prenatal & Postnatal Supplements

Even with a balanced diet, it’s common to have nutrient gaps especially during pregnancy and postpartum, when your body’s nutrient demands are much higher. A high-quality prenatal or postnatal supplement can help fill in those gaps while still encouraging you to focus on nutrient-dense foods first.

The Needed brand is one of my favorites because it focuses on optimal levels of key nutrients for both mom and baby not just the bare minimum. These supplements are thoughtfully formulated for real-life needs and can be continued postpartum to help restore nutrient levels after birth.

4. Electrolytes

Hydration is about more than just water. During pregnancy and postpartum especially if you’re breastfeeding your body needs electrolytes to help regulate fluid balance, support nerve function, and keep muscles working properly.

Signs you might need more electrolytes include fatigue, headaches, muscle cramps, or feeling lightheaded despite drinking enough water. Adding a clean, pregnancy-safe electrolyte powder can be a game-changer for energy, recovery, and milk supply.

Final Thoughts

Supplements and holistic health practices can be wonderful tools to support your energy, recovery, and overall well-being but they’re not a replacement for a nutrient-rich diet, intentional movement, and rest. Use them as part of your overall wellness toolkit, not the whole toolbox.
